Romantic Florals and Waves

Guess who's back?! Well, I apologize for having been gone so long. I'm not sure how many people actually noticed I was gone, but anyways... May and the beginning of June has been VERY busy/crazy. Choir show, Talent Show, end of school, end of school packing and cleaning, we had puppies, we went out of town for a wedding... and now things are finally settling down.

I didn't exactly get time to do a "fashion shoot" at the wedding but I did get some good pictures of me and my husband, who was the best man. It was at a beautiful ranch in Comfort, TX. The whole wedding was absolutely amazing. Right now as you know, it's wedding season. Love is in the air... In fact, we got married two years ago on June 17.  So wondering what to wear to a wedding?

I chose this great floral faux wrap dress. It was a thin polyester fabric, which helped keep me cool at the outdoor ceremony. This fabric also travels well and does not wrinkle. Here's a great tip for any dress at any time... Don't be afraid to invest in a full bodyshaper slip. It helps to keep any panty lines from showing and smooths everything out. When you are buying one, it shouldn't be so tight that you can't breathe, just a nice comfortable fit. I don't necessarily wear mine with every dress, but with those fabrics that are a little less forgiving than others :) And that usually means special occasion dresses.
I also have my fun Gianni Bini heels on. They have beads that dangle across the t-strap in front. Here's what the heels look like close up. I couldn't find them online :(

Florals are big right now and they are great to wear anywhere. They give a romantic vibe that goes great at a wedding.

Another great tip for weddings this season is to wear waves in your hair. No kinky curls, but loose waves. A kind of 20's inspired look. I got mine by using a curling wand and curling my hair from about my ears to the bottom. I sprayed each strand of hair before and after I curled it. Before you brush through the curls, let them cool off and set. Get dressed and right before you leave, brush through them and voila! Beautiful waves. (I used lots of spray since it was an outdoor wedding and a little humid.)

Lace, Orange, and LV

As I started writing this post, I realized… it's been two weeks since I've posted anything! I can't believe I've let this much time pass between posts! It has definitely been busy, but don't worry, I haven't quit or disappeared. Just took a little break :)

Our church choir has started a new thing. Instead of wearing robes, we coordinate colors. Yesterday's colors were white, brown or gray, khaki, and orange. Here's what I came  up with…

I've worn this shirt before, here, but this time, I decided to tuck it in. I've never been one to tuck in my shirts, but after this outfit, I think I might try it more often.

This fabulous lace skirt is from Stein Mart. I'm telling you ladies… if you need a skirt, look no further than Stein Mart! They have some pretty fabulous stuff! My gold/nude heels are Gianni Bini from Dillards. Nude colored shoes are a great way to elongate your legs. And a shorty like me needs that!

I noticed that I never have purses in my postings but that is for a reason. I love purses but I can't stand changing them. I know people who change them with each outfit and I wish I had the patience for that, but I don't. This Louis Vuitton is my baby right now. My husband bought it for my birthday last June and I have been using it since then. Good quality purses will last a LOONG time versus a new cheap purse that breaks every month.

Belts are also something that make a big difference. I hope to do a post soon on different sized belts, what they are for, and the difference they make. This particular one is from Target.

Minty perfection

So if you didn't already know, the big color this spring is mint. I absolutely adore pastels and this mint green is no exception. For weeks, I have been searching for the perfect mint top. There are not many places to shop here in my little West Texas town so, I turned to the internet. It is here that I found (insert angels singing) the perfect mint top!

The top is from Apostolic Clothing Co. I have ordered one other time from them and loved it each time.  Their website has so many adorable things! Fabulous skirts, tops, and jackets.  Definitely check it out! I did have to wear a white tank top under this shirt because it it a little sheer. But the fit is perfect and also very comfortable!

This fun ruffle skirt has been sitting in my closet for at least a year now… No joke. I haven't really found the right top for it until now. I got it at NY&Company sometime last year. Hold on to those thing you've got sitting in your closets ladies! You never know when you'll need them! By the way, NY&Co is having a buy one get one 50% off plus an extra 30% off on top of that. I'm not sure how long it will last so check it out soon!

And last but not least, these color changing beauties are Jessica Simpson. In one light they look purple, but in another light they look green. Here is a similar style here but the colors are not the same.

I'd like to leave you with this thought before you go…
For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.
-Audrey Hepburn
Remember, true beauty starts on the inside. With God by our side, we can never go wrong.

Sunday Fun day!

I love Sundays! And today feels like spring... finally! 78 degrees outside. I felt springy today so I decided to color block some bright, fun colors.

The shirt is from Old Navy, and the skirt I got at Burlington Coat Factory. The pink tank top is something I've had in my closet for years!

These great shoes are BCBGirls. I got them a while back at DSW in the sale room... always look at the sales first!

Here are some great tips for color blocking:

1. Use solid colors. Some prints can also work, but it usually looks best with solids.

2. Use at least 3 different colors. First you want to pick two colors that are opposite on the color wheel and then one to compliment. For example, orange and blue are opposite on the color wheel. Pink is the complimentary color to orange. Or you can go with three colors next to each other, for example, blue, purple and pink.

3. If you want to throw in a bag or a belt, stay with neutral colors like black, white, tan or brown.

4. If you are doing bright colors, make sure they're all bright. If you are doing pastels, make sure they are all pastel.

Play with colors and see how they look. It really is different for everyone depending on your skin tone and what is pleasing to your eye.

Be colorful and let that light shine!

What's black, blue, and striped all over?

Me! While shopping last weekend, my nieces and I found some great striped skirts at Old Navy. They had tons of colors to choose from! It's a stretchy fabric and the skirts are a great length. The price wasn't too bad either.

This great peplum top is from a store called Vanity. I got it on sale for $7! I also got a black and white striped peplum top that you'll see soon enough! The royal blue tank top and belt are from my closet... who knows where those came from!

These are some of my favorite shoes! They are my favorite brand, Gianni Bini and I got them at Dillards.

Instead of leaving my hair down like I usually do, I put a pin curl in my hair. This outfit gives a retro vibe and the pin curl just adds a little something extra.

Please make sure and click the "Join this Site" button on the right of the screen before you leave. And feel free to leave comments! I love feedback!
I've got so many ideas and not enough time for them all! Until next time!

1 Dress... Endless Possibilities!

A couple of weeks ago, I was shopping at a local boutique and I came across this beautiful leopard skirt. Well, once I got it home, much to my surprise, it turned out to not only be a skirt, but a maxi dress! The possibilities with this dress, and any other maxi dress are endless! But here are a couple to get your wheels turning.

I have to say, this outfit is probably my favorite of the three. Not only is it cute, but very comfortable!  The tangerine color looks great with leopard. The shirt is from JCPenny's. It is flowy and a little see through, so I have a black tank underneath. I paired it with a gold Gianni Bini heel from Dillard's.

This outfit is a more casual, shopping, out to lunch kind of outfit. For more coverage on top, wear a tank top underneath the dress. Here, I've got on a simple black lace tank. Worried about the dress slipping down? Here's a great tip: Use a safety pin to secure the dress to each of your bra straps. Jean jacket is from Forever 21, sparkly gold flats are from NY&Company.

A black cardigan is a staple that every woman needs in her wardrobe. I got this one from TJ Maxx. With this dress, the black was great, but the pops of red gave it a fun twist. The red lace tank top is from Stein Mart. I think I have one of these in every color! They are great because you can adjust them to cover up as much as you need. The red heels are Jessica Simpson from Macy's.

Hopefully more posts to come soon!
