Chambray and Sequins

Today has been a good Friday indeed. I have been so busy this last week that I've barely had enough time to sleep, let alone blog. I was pretty happy about getting today off! I caught up on my sleep and now, I'm catching up on my blogging!

I had a girls' day today with my niece Amber. We had some major retail therapy going on! I've been trying to figure out for weeks what to wear with this chambray shirt. It's been sitting in my closet for more than a month with the tags on it.

I love the rhinestone detail on the shoulders! That is the main reason I bought it. I love sparkles! The chambray is from Dillard's… here. They also have some other beautiful chambray tops with lace detail or one with leopard print.

The top is from Forever 21, here. It can be worn alone as well. The skirt I found at Burlington Coat Factory for only 6 dollars! If you have the patience to look, you can find great things. Especially when I found a similar skirt at Stein Mart today for $25. Still not a bad price, but you can't beat $6! My flip flops are Coach.

Don't forget to stop and remember what happened on this day, so many years ago. Jesus hung on the cross and died to save me and you. Where would I be, if not for your grace Jesus?

Lunch with the boys

Today I got to go have lunch with two of my brothers. This doesn't happen very often, since they are both in high school and both VERY busy! So, instead of getting all dressed up, I kept it casual but still a little frilly :) I am the only girl after all.

Today is the first day that I've been able to pull out my flip flops! The weather was extremely warm today and I was soo happy! These wedge sandals came from Target.

This cute little cardigan came from TJ Maxx. It is a pretty blush pink with a lacy back. I completely LOVE that store, as any fashionista does. If you've never been there before… GO!

This lace shirt came from Macy's. I found it on clearance a couple of months ago. There is a similar one  here

Now, let me tell you about this AMAZING undershirt I am wearing. It is 3/4 length and has a higher scoop neckline. They are super comfortable and great for layering. I have one in every single color they have available! They wash really well and don't lose their color. They are great to put under sheer tops, dresses, or anything else you may need some cover with! You can buy them HERE! The color I am wearing is called dusky green but to me it looks more like grey. They are very true to size and are very form fitting. This works perfect if you want them underneath clothes. If you want it to fit looser, go a size up.

My jean skirt is from SteinMart. It seems like SteinMart always has great skirts for a good price. Its always hard to find longer lengths but I can always find some there.

Well, Spring Break is almost over :( But, luckily for me, summer is just around the corner! Stay tuned for more soon!

Minty perfection

So if you didn't already know, the big color this spring is mint. I absolutely adore pastels and this mint green is no exception. For weeks, I have been searching for the perfect mint top. There are not many places to shop here in my little West Texas town so, I turned to the internet. It is here that I found (insert angels singing) the perfect mint top!

The top is from Apostolic Clothing Co. I have ordered one other time from them and loved it each time.  Their website has so many adorable things! Fabulous skirts, tops, and jackets.  Definitely check it out! I did have to wear a white tank top under this shirt because it it a little sheer. But the fit is perfect and also very comfortable!

This fun ruffle skirt has been sitting in my closet for at least a year now… No joke. I haven't really found the right top for it until now. I got it at NY&Company sometime last year. Hold on to those thing you've got sitting in your closets ladies! You never know when you'll need them! By the way, NY&Co is having a buy one get one 50% off plus an extra 30% off on top of that. I'm not sure how long it will last so check it out soon!

And last but not least, these color changing beauties are Jessica Simpson. In one light they look purple, but in another light they look green. Here is a similar style here but the colors are not the same.

I'd like to leave you with this thought before you go…
For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.
-Audrey Hepburn
Remember, true beauty starts on the inside. With God by our side, we can never go wrong.

Epic fail :(

If you have a Pinterest, I'm sure you've seen the pin that says, "Beautiful curls with a sock!" Or something to that effect. Seems awesome to me! So, I decided to give it a shot! After I took a shower I blow dried my hair so that it was "slightly damp" just like the tutorial says. I got my sock and started twisting my hair into the bun.

In the morning when I took it out... Ta da!! Beautiful curls!

So I run my fingers through the tangles and go get dressed. I'm thinking... This is awesome! That was so easy I could do that every night! When I come back to the mirror about ten minutes later... To my horror, this is what I see...

What in the world happened to my curls?! They disappeared within 10 minutes! Needless to say, this is how I ended up wearing my hair for the day...

Not exactly what I expected. Anyone else ever try something that failed miserably?

Sunday Fun day!

I love Sundays! And today feels like spring... finally! 78 degrees outside. I felt springy today so I decided to color block some bright, fun colors.

The shirt is from Old Navy, and the skirt I got at Burlington Coat Factory. The pink tank top is something I've had in my closet for years!

These great shoes are BCBGirls. I got them a while back at DSW in the sale room... always look at the sales first!

Here are some great tips for color blocking:

1. Use solid colors. Some prints can also work, but it usually looks best with solids.

2. Use at least 3 different colors. First you want to pick two colors that are opposite on the color wheel and then one to compliment. For example, orange and blue are opposite on the color wheel. Pink is the complimentary color to orange. Or you can go with three colors next to each other, for example, blue, purple and pink.

3. If you want to throw in a bag or a belt, stay with neutral colors like black, white, tan or brown.

4. If you are doing bright colors, make sure they're all bright. If you are doing pastels, make sure they are all pastel.

Play with colors and see how they look. It really is different for everyone depending on your skin tone and what is pleasing to your eye.

Be colorful and let that light shine!

What's black, blue, and striped all over?

Me! While shopping last weekend, my nieces and I found some great striped skirts at Old Navy. They had tons of colors to choose from! It's a stretchy fabric and the skirts are a great length. The price wasn't too bad either.

This great peplum top is from a store called Vanity. I got it on sale for $7! I also got a black and white striped peplum top that you'll see soon enough! The royal blue tank top and belt are from my closet... who knows where those came from!

These are some of my favorite shoes! They are my favorite brand, Gianni Bini and I got them at Dillards.

Instead of leaving my hair down like I usually do, I put a pin curl in my hair. This outfit gives a retro vibe and the pin curl just adds a little something extra.

Please make sure and click the "Join this Site" button on the right of the screen before you leave. And feel free to leave comments! I love feedback!
I've got so many ideas and not enough time for them all! Until next time!
